Strengthening Regional Connections at LACNIC45

The Brand Safety Alliance (BSA) is pleased to be attending LACNIC45 in Panama this May. As one of the leading internet governance events in the region, LACNIC meetings bring together decision-makers and key players from across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Organized by the Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean, LACNIC plays a central role in managing critical Internet resources and supporting the development of a stable, secure, and open Internet across the region. With a community spanning more than 13,000 organizations in 33 territories, the forum represents an important touchpoint for understanding regional priorities, challenges, and opportunities.

For the BSA, attending LACNIC 45 is an opportunity to deepen engagement in a region that continues to see rapid digital growth and increasing complexity in the domain name landscape.

Events like LACNIC are particularly valuable because they bring together the technical and operational voices that underpin how the Internet functions in practice. This creates space for meaningful conversations about how brand protection strategies can better align with regional infrastructure, policies, and market realities—particularly in environments where access, language, and local requirements can add layers of complexity.

As GlobalBlock continues to expand its coverage and capabilities, these discussions are key to ensuring the service reflects the needs of a truly global Internet community.

If you’re attending LACNIC45 in Panama and would like to connect with the BSA team, please reach out to us at hello@brandsafetyalliance.co to arrange a time.

A lot has changed across the registry landscape since my last trip to the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain (APTLD) conference over two years ago in Danang, Vietnam. From the increasing role that AI plays in our businesses through to the ever-expanding abuse conundrum, the threat landscape has shifted in ways that should concern every registry operator, regardless of size and region. I'm excited to reconnect with the APTLD community at two upcoming events. First, I'll be joining APTLD members for a webinar on 26 August, followed by a session at APTLD90 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this September, where I'll be sharing how the Brand Safety Alliance and GlobalBlock are helping registries and brands tackle online abuse through collaborative global protection programs.

As one of the largest and most strategically significant country code domains, .CN offers an important view into how registries are balancing growth, governance and brand safety at scale. We’re pleased to present this partner article from CNNIC, the registry behind China’s .CN country code top-level domain, about the growing sophistication of abuse, the increasing need for cross-border cooperation, and the rising expectation from global brands for proactive protective mechanisms within complex national markets.
