The Brand Safety Alliance (BSA) team welcomed another opportunity to connect with the broader BSA community and celebrate shared milestones this June, at the ICANN86 Policy Meeting in Seville, Spain.
The meeting was well attended and along with other guests we enjoyed the beautiful location, weather and abundance of cultural experiences on offer in the city.
A highlight for our team was our BSA-hosted party, where we were joined by more than 150 community members including registries, registrars and representatives of some of the world’s largest brands. The event celebrated two years of GlobalBlock and recognized all those who have contributed to its success thus far. Special congratulations must go to the BSA events team for staging a wonderful event and bringing people together in style. There were many compliments on the night that it was one of, if not the best party of the week.
During the party we were pleased to formally sign the agreement with CNNIC to recognize our collaboration, following our recent announcement that .cn has joined the GlobalBlock service. Director Zhang expressed her gratitude for the partnership and a commitment to working with the international community to assist in future brand protection efforts.
Throughout the ICANN conference the BSA team collectively participated in more than 60 meetings with registries and agents – both current partners and prospective collaborators interested in continuing to expand the GlobalBlock service. As we approach 840 included extensions, this already strong and diverse network of partners continues to gain interest.
We also began to promote our new abuse blocking service by the BSA, which gained significant interest with the gTLD and ccTLD registry community. This service will use AI analysis and pattern recognition to provide proactive abuse prevention in the most high-risk spaces, benefiting the health and security of registries as well as the brands and consumers who would otherwise fall victim to these abusive activities. This is another step toward the BSA’s mission to find global solutions to global challenges.
Finally, we were pleased to receive some great feedback about the upcoming new extensions batch coming to GlobalBlock in July. We will provide more updates on this in the coming weeks.
Thank you to all who connected with us in Seville and made this a productive and memorable event. We look forward to seeing more of the BSA community in Bali for ICANN87 Annual General Meeting in October.
To relive the evening, we've created a short highlight reel capturing some of our favorite moments from the rooftop in Seville.
