GlobalBlock Expands Coverage - Now Including Popular 'Adult' TLDs

GlobalBlock is excited to announce a significant expansion of its domain blocking service in early October. This update will introduce approximately 30 new domain extensions, encompassing popular ccTLDs, gTLDs, and Web3.0/Blockchain extensions, further enhancing the service’s robust protection capabilities.

Among the most anticipated additions are the adult themed extensions—.xxx, .adult, .porn, and .sex. Previously available only through the standalone AdultBlock service, these extensions will now also be included in GlobalBlock, addressing strong demand from brand owners for comprehensive protection against impersonation and cybercrime in one easy to manage service.

This expansion will bring the total number of extensions in GlobalBlock to more than 600, with additional high-profile extensions planned for early 2025.

Existing GlobalBlock customers will benefit from the expanded coverage automatically and at no extra cost.

Existing AdultBlock customers now have the option to renew their current AdultBlock service or upgrade to GlobalBlock and benefit from significantly broader protection. Those who upgrade will have their current AdultBlock subscription incorporated into their new GlobalBlock service, ensuring uninterrupted protection.

Ben Anderson, Product Director at the Brand Safety Alliance, shared his enthusiasm for the update: “We’re thrilled to offer an enhanced solution that meets the evolving needs of brand protection and IP professionals. This expansion is a major advancement for GlobalBlock.”

He further added: “AdultBlock has provided great protection for brands across the four adult extensions and will continue to be available as a standalone product for new and existing customers. We’re also excited to provide AdultBlock customers with an opportunity to upgrade and receive the significant additional protection that GlobalBlock offers.”

The .xxx extension, introduced by ICM Registry in 2011, initially provided commercial blocking for the adult namespace, setting the stage for services like GlobalBlock.
