Brand Safety Alliance to Celebrate Two Years of GlobalBlock at ICANN86 Seville

The Brand Safety Alliance (BSA) is looking forward to attending the ICANN86 Policy Forum taking place in Seville, Spain this May.

As one of the key gatherings in the domain name calendar, ICANN meetings bring together registries, registrars, policymakers, and brand representatives to shape the future of the domain ecosystem. Several of the BSA team will be travelling to Spain and look forward to connecting with our partners and colleagues from across the industry.

ICANN meetings provide an opportunity to engage directly with those responsible for how domain namespaces are governed, expanded and secured, ensuring that the needs of brand owners remain part of that conversation.

ICANN86 is particularly significant as the industry moves toward the next round of new TLDs. With the application window approaching its close, this forum offers a critical moment to connect with prospective registry operators and discuss how brand protection can be built into new namespaces from the outset. These early conversations play an important role in shaping a more secure and consistent environment for IP owners as the domain landscape continues to grow.

Bringing together the BSA’s partners is an important part of our collaborative model, and ICANN meetings provide a great opportunity to strengthen relationships, share insights and align on how to address emerging challenges in brand protection at scale.

The BSA will also host a special event to celebrate two years since GlobalBlock launched – a chance to reflect on its growth, the expansion of coverage and the role it now plays in helping brands take a more proactive approach to domain protection.

If you’re attending ICANN86 in Seville and would like to connect with the BSA team, please reach out to us at hello@brandsafetyalliance.co to arrange a time.

A lot has changed across the registry landscape since my last trip to the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain (APTLD) conference over two years ago in Danang, Vietnam. From the increasing role that AI plays in our businesses through to the ever-expanding abuse conundrum, the threat landscape has shifted in ways that should concern every registry operator, regardless of size and region. I'm excited to reconnect with the APTLD community at two upcoming events. First, I'll be joining APTLD members for a webinar on 26 August, followed by a session at APTLD90 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this September, where I'll be sharing how the Brand Safety Alliance and GlobalBlock are helping registries and brands tackle online abuse through collaborative global protection programs.

As one of the largest and most strategically significant country code domains, .CN offers an important view into how registries are balancing growth, governance and brand safety at scale. We’re pleased to present this partner article from CNNIC, the registry behind China’s .CN country code top-level domain, about the growing sophistication of abuse, the increasing need for cross-border cooperation, and the rising expectation from global brands for proactive protective mechanisms within complex national markets.
