Latin American and Caribbean internet community to meet in Brazil

This May 5-9, hundreds of representatives from the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) internet community will come together in São Paulo, Brazil, to network, receive training and discuss issues facing the industry.

Representing internet service providers, IT companies, academia, government, non-government organisations and commercial entities, the twice-yearly LACNIC conference is well-attended by folks keen to support LACNIC’s vision of ‘a regional community for a better global internet.’

Fernando España from the Brand Safety Alliance team will also attend LACNIC 43 in São Paulo and looks forward to meeting with partners and members of the broader community at the event.

GlobalBlock’s LAC representation includes dozens of extensions, including geographic domains such as Costa Rica’s .cr and Hondura’s .hn, as well as multi-lingual domains such as .abogado (for the Spanish-speaking legal sector), .moda (fashion in Spanish or Italian) and .viajes (for the Spanish-speaking travel and tourism industry).

The Latin American ecommerce market is growing, with its number of online shoppers expected to grow 44% by 2029 from an already-impressive 300 million. According to Statista, in 2023, online retail sales in Latin America yielded an estimated USD $272 billion.

With this growth of online consumer activity and commercial opportunity, protecting brands and consumers alike is more important than ever. We are excited to meet with the community and discuss GlobalBlock’s potential to improve brand protection, reduce fraud, and create a safer internet across the region.

If you are attending LACNIC 43 and would like to connect with our team, please email us at hello@brandsafetyalliance.co to arrange a time to meet.

The 2026 International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) Annual Conference in Orlando brought together enterprise brands, law enforcement agencies, marketplaces, payment providers, policy leaders, registries, and technology platforms. The Brand Safety Alliance (BSA) was thrilled to sponsor the event for the first time, supporting the IACC Networking Lounge. This opportunity allowed us to connect with many IP and brand protection experts and to continue our IP Insights program – an ongoing series of conversations and interviews with the people at the coal front of online brand protection. The theme running through every session of the conference and reflected in our conversations was: how does enforcement keep pace as digital abuse becomes faster, more global, and more infrastructure-driven? Here are some key themes we captured from those in the know.
